Frank E Schiavone, M.D.
Frank E. Schiavone, M.D., founder of North Florida Dermatology Associates, P.A. has been in private practice in Jacksonville since July of 1983 and specializes in skin cancer detection and surgery. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame and received his medical degree from Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Schiavone concluded his internal medicine training at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, He completed his dermatology residency at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and went directly into private practice. Dr. Schiavone is Board Certified in Dermatology and is a member of the Florida Society of Dermatologic Surgeons, Duval County Medical Society, the Jacksonville Dermatology Society, American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgeons.

Robert G. Brown, M.D.
Dr. Brown completed his undergraduate studies at Duke University and received his medical degree from the State University of New York Health Science Center. He fulfilled a three year residency in dermatology at the Medical College of Virginia, and is Board Certified in dermatology. Dr. Brown has published a number of dermatologic journal articles and completed a variety of dermatologic research projects. In addition to general dermatology, Dr. Brown specializes in dermatologic surgery, sclerotherapy for spider veins, chemical peels, laser surgery, tattoo removals, and tumescent liposculpture. Dr. Brown is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, Board Certified in Dermatology, American Society of Dermatologic Surgeons, Duval County Medical Society, Clay County Medical Society, and the Jacksonville Dermatology Society.

Leonard Shvartzman, M.D.
Dr. Leonard A. Shvartzman is Board Certified in Dermatology and specializes in MOHS Micrographic Skin Cancer Surgery and Cosmetic Surgery. Dr. Shvartzman completed his MOHS fellowship at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, and undergraduate studies at the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York City, and two years of Surgical training at LIJ Medical Center in New York. Dr. Shvartzman completed a research fellowship at Boston University School of Medicine, and his dermatology residency at the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center, followed by his MOHS Micrographic Surgery Fellowship in Minneapolis. Dr. Shvartzman has authored articles in dermatology, as well as other medical specialties. In addition to skin cancer surgery, Dr. Shvartzman performs tumescent liposculpture, laser resurfacing, hair transplantation, eye lifts and neck lifts, tattoo removals with laser, hair transplantation and collagen augmentation, small and large vein sclerotherapy, as well as ambulatory phlebectomy and dermabrasion. Dr. Shvartzman is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, American College of MOHS Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology, American Society of Dermatologic Surgeons, and the Duval County Medical Society.

Jonathan Kantor, M.D.
Jonathan Kantor, M.D. Joined the staff of North Florida Dermatology Associates in 2005.
Dr. Kantor attended medical school at the Ivy-League University of Pennsylvania, where he completed an internship in internal medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He completed a three-year residency program in dermatology at the University of Pennsylvania as well, where he was elected and served as Chief Resident. Dr. Kantor also worked in a private dermatology practice outside Philadelphia.
During his medical training, Dr. Kantor completed a National Institutes of Health-funded fellowship in clinical epidemiology and holds a master's degree in clinical epidemiology and biostatistics. He has authored more than two dozen research articles and book chapters and has presented his research at numerous national conferences. Dr. Kantor has a special interest in skin cancer as well as dermatopathology and surgical reconstruction, and much of his research has focused on the wound healing process.
Before starting medical school, Dr. Kantor pursued wider interests in history as a Ph.D. candidate in Intellectual History at the University of Pennsylvania, where he received undergraduate and master's degrees in history. He was elected to Phi Beta Kappa as an undergraduate and Alpha Omega Alpha as a medical student.
Dr. Kantor is board-certified in Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology as well as a Fellow of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. He is also a member of the American Medical Association, the Florida Medical Association, the Duval County Medical Society, and the Jacksonville Dermatological Society, and is on the active staff of Baptist Medical Center.

Josep Genebriera, M.D.
Josep Genebriera, M.D. joined the staff of North Florida Dermatology Associates, P.A. in August of 2011. He was raised in Barcelona, Spain and studied at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and the University of Wales (UK) as well the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, where he was awarded his medical degree. He completed his internship at the Jefferson Health System in Philadelphia and dermatology residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
Dr. Genebriera is the author of multiple scientific papers and book chapters on dermatology, and has presented his research at national and international conferences. He has conducted research at Boston University and was awarded research fellowships at the University of Alabama in Birmingham and Mayo clinic in Rochester, MN (Smith-Gibson research fellowship).
Because of his interest in skin care, Dr. Genebriera has expanded his knowledge to the development of skin care products. He also specializes in general dermatology and skin cancer, cosmetic dermatology including laser treatments, injectables, non-surgical rhinoplasty and dermatologic surgical procedures. He is a member of the American Medical Association, American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, American Society of Mohs Surgery and American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Genebriera is fluent in English, Catalan and Spanish.

Sonia Esponiza, M.D.
Sonia Espinoza, M.D. joined the staff of North Florida Dermatology Associates in 2008 as a part of the Mohs team to perform reconstruction surgery after Mohs procedures. Dr. Espinoza received her Medical degree from Universidad Autonoma de Nicaragua, and completed 3 years of Family Medicine at Medical College of Wisconsin. She complete 4 years of Surgery at Hospital Bertha Calderon Managua, Nicaragua followed by 3 years training in Plastic and reconstruction Surgery at Instituto de Cirugia Plastica y Reconstructiva de Jalisco, Universidad de Guadalajara, Mexico; part of her resident training was done in Hospital Universitaire Brugmann, Brussels, Belgium and USA with Dr. Ralph Millard in Miami, Florida. and Dr. David Dibbell, University of Madison, WI. Dr. Espinoza worked in private practice before joining the North Florida Dermatology team.
Dr. Espinoza is member of American Medical Association, American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, American Academy of Family Physician, Nicaraguan Society of Plastic Surgery and International Confederation for Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic surgery.
She also specializes in performing face, eye, brow, neck lift and tumescent Liposuction in addition to cosmetic procedures such as Botox, Dysport and Perlane.

Michelle Sanson, P.A.-C.
Michelle Sanson, P.A.-C, MPAS, is a native of Jacksonville. She has been with North Florida Dermatology Associates for over 10 years. She completed her BS Degree in Medicine and her Masters Degree in Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. In addition to general dermatology, and minor dermatologic surgery, Ms. Sanson is also experienced in multiple lasers and IPL to treat rosacea, sun spots/sun damage, hair removal, photo rejuvenation and tattoo removal. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, Florida Academy of Physician Assistants and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants.

Randolph B. Mahoney, P.A.
Randolph B. Mahoney, PA-C, MPAS, is a native of Jacksonville. He is a graduate of Duke University, and received his Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida. He has been with North Florida Dermatology since 2001.
Mr. Mahoney practices general and surgical dermatology, and is experienced in evaluation of pigmented lesions using dermoscopy. He has a particular interest in treating the more severe forms of acne with isotretinoin (Accutane). He is a Fellow of the International Dermoscopy Society, as well as various other professional organizations.

Alice Beard, P.A.-C
Alice Beard, PA-C, MPAS has worked in Internal Medicine for 5 years initiating an intra office dermatology clinic and later specialized her practice to dermatology before joining North Florida Dermatology Associates. She practices general dermatology but especially enjoys improving chronic problems such as acne, eczema, rosacea & psoriasis. She has special training in cosmetic procedures such as Botox, Juvaderm, Restylane, and lasers for hair removal, sun spots, spider veins and tattoo removal.
After graduating from The University of Texas, Austin with a BA in Psychology, Mrs. Beard received a Masters Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Florida, College of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and Florida Academy of Physician Assistants.
