Frank E. Schiavone, M.D.

Frank E. Schiavone, M.D., founder of North Florida Dermatology Associates, P.A. has been in private practice in Jacksonville since July of 1983 and specializes in skin cancer detection and surgery. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame and received his medical degree from Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Schiavone concluded his internal medicine training at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. He completed his dermatology residency at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and went directly into private practice. Dr. Schiavone is Board Certified in Dermatology and is a member of the Florida Society of Dermatologic Surgeons, Duval County Medical Society, the Jacksonville Dermatology Society, American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgeons.

Robert G. Brown, M.D.

Dr. Brown completed his undergraduate studies at Duke University and received his medical degree from the State University of New York Health Science Center. He fulfilled a three year residency in dermatology at the Medical College of Virginia, and is Board Certified in dermatology.  Dr. Brown has published a number of dermatologic journal articles and completed a variety of dermatologic research projects. In addition to general dermatology, Dr. Brown specializes in dermatologic surgery, sclerotherapy for spider veins, chemical peels, laser surgery, tattoo removals, and tumescent liposculpture.  Dr. Brown is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, Board Certified in Dermatology, American Society of Dermatologic Surgeons, Duval County Medical Society, Clay County Medical Society, and the Jacksonville Dermatology Society.

Josep Genebriera, M.D.

Josep Genebriera, M.D. joined the staff of North Florida Dermatology Associates, P.A. in August of 2011. He was raised in Barcelona, Spain and studied at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and the University of Wales (UK) as well the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, where he was awarded his medical degree. He completed his internship at the Jefferson Health System in Philadelphia and dermatology residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
Dr. Genebriera is the author of multiple scientific papers and book chapters on dermatology, and has presented his research at national and international conferences. He has conducted research at Boston University and was awarded research fellowships at the University of Alabama in Birmingham and Mayo clinic in Rochester, MN (Smith-Gibson research fellowship).
Because of his interest in skin care, Dr. Genebriera has expanded his knowledge to the development of skin care products. He also specializes in general dermatology and skin cancer, cosmetic dermatology including laser treatments, injectables, non-surgical rhinoplasty and dermatologic surgical procedures. He is a member of the American Medical Association, American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, American Society of Mohs Surgery and American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Genebriera is fluent in English, Catalan and Spanish.

Brent Taylor, MD

Dr. Brent Taylor attended Harvard College, where he graduated magna cum laude in three years with a bachelor of arts in biochemical sciences. He attended Vanderbilt School of Medicine on a full, merit-based scholarship and graduated from medical school in 2009. During his residency training at Medical University of South Carolina, he published sentinel research on Mohs surgery laboratory techniques. He then completed an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Mohs surgery and procedural dermatology at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, California. His fellowship training focused on skin cancer and reconstruction as well as minimally invasive vein treatments including endovenous laser ablation and ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy.

Joshua Spanogle, MD

Dr. Spanogle received his undergraduate degree from Yale University. He received his medical degree at the Stanford University School of Medicine, where he also completed his internship in Internal Medicine. Following a residency in Dermatology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, Dr. Spanogle completed a Fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery at the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Spanogle has published numerous academic papers and other academic writings. He is Board Certified in Dermatology, and is a member of the American College of Mohs Surgeons, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and the American Academy of Dermatology.

Michelle Sanson, P.A.-C.

Michelle Sanson, P.A.-C, MPAS, is a native of Jacksonville. She has been with North Florida Dermatology Associates since 1999. She completed her BS Degree in Medicine and her Master's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. In addition to general dermatology, and minor dermatologic surgery, Ms. Sanson is also experienced in multiple lasers and IPL to treat rosacea, sun spots/sun damage, hair removal, photo rejuvenation and tattoo removal. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, Florida Academy of Physician Assistants and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants.

Randolph B. Mahoney, P.A.-C

Randolph B. Mahoney, PA-C, MPAS, is a native of Jacksonville. He is a graduate of Duke University, and received his Master's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida. He has been with North Florida Dermatology since 2001.
Mr. Mahoney practices general and surgical dermatology, and is experienced in evaluation of pigmented lesions using dermoscopy. He has a particular interest in treating the more severe forms of acne with isotretinoin (Accutane). He is a Fellow of the International Dermoscopy Society, as well as various other professional organizations.


W. Scott McDonald, M.D.

Dr. W. Scott McDonald is Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a graduate of the Louisiana State University School of Medicine. Dr. McDonald completed a full general surgery residency training program in General Surgery at Louisiana State University. During this training he entered a year of laboratory research at the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. He then completed his resident training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery at New York University. After his residency in Plastic Surgery Dr McDonald returned to the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles for a year of specialty training in Craniofacial Surgery. Dr. McDonald has spent most of his career in academic medicine teaching Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana, and the University Of Miami School Of Medicine in Miami Florida. Dr McDonald has published clinical and laboratory in the most prestigious journals of Plastic Surgery including The Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, The Annals of Plastic Surgery, and The Journal of Craniofacial Surgery. He has given scientific lectures on Aesthetic Surgery, Breast Reconstruction, Craniofacial Surgery and Wound Healing at major Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery meetings including those hosted by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the American College of Surgeons (ACS), the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS, and the American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery (ASRM). Dr. McDonald has a strong commitment to teaching and community service. Not only has he received teaching awards for Plastic Surgery including the 2010 Resident Teaching Award at The Mt. Sinai School of Medicine Division of Plastic Surgery in New York City, but he has traveled to Columbia, South America, and led mission teams to Gaza, Palestine for Operation Smile. Dr. McDonald has also guided groups of the University of Miami medical students to the Central Plateau of Haiti and performed reconstructive surgery on both the children and adults of that country.

Dr. McDonald is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).

Thomas J. Zaydon, Jr., M.D.

Dr Thomas J. Zaydon is a cosmetic and plastic reconstructive surgeon practicing in Florida for the past 20 years. He is board certified with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners. He is an active member in the Southeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons and serves on the advisory board.
Dr. Zaydon earned his bachelor of science degree at Florida State University. Then graduated from Drexel/Hahnemann medical college. He completed his internship at Eastern Virginia Medical School, then served in general surgery from resident to chief resident at Monmouth in Long Branch, New Jersey. He completed his training first as resident, then chief resident in plastic surgery at Louisiana State University (LSU) in New Orleans. He started his practice with his father (Thomas J. Zaydon, Sr. M.D. board certified plastic surgeon for over 50) years at the same location in Miami at the Mercy Hospital complex. Dr. Zaydon has served as past president of the Miami Society of Plastic surgeons. He is a delegate on the board for the Florida Society of Plastic Surgeons. He is past Chief of Plastic Surgery at Mercy Hospital, past Vice-Chairman at Miami Heart, and Former Associate Chairman, St Francis Hospital. He presently serves on various committees at Baptist hospital and its affiliates. He is a voluntary instructor at the University of Miami /School of medicine and former clinical instructor at Louisiana State University.
